FMCL’s current workload and recently completed works.

Biggart Fountain, Dalry

Dismantling and rebuilding in new location Biggart Fountain in Dalry Ayrshire.

A Scottish granite and sandstone structure, FMCL supplemented existing missing components with new carved granite including sourcing and refixing finial piece. In addition, new granite slabbing and kerbs were supplied and laid to a circular pattern.

St Andrew’s Parish Church, Ayr

Restoration and repairs to the Church Tower (circa 44m high). Works included repointing of masonry, replacement and repairs to carved tracery and various moulded string courses and quoins etc. Taking down spire stonework to top previously damanged by lightning and rebuiding including fixing refurbished wrought iron finial. Supply, construction and fitting of new oak/pine louvres complete. Associated works in connection with lightning protection and services.

Earlstoun Castle, Dumfrieshire

Works currently under way to 16th centuary Laird’s House in Dumfrieshire. Phase 1 comprises stabilisation and rebuilding collapsed / defective masonry fabric and general raking out and repointing of mortar joints. Other works include splicing / replacement of defective oak floor beams and roof timbers; recording, dismantling and storing original wooden paneling (for refixing in future phase); reslating and replacement leadwork and cast iron rainwater goods.

John Finnie Street, Kilmarnock

As part of the town centre regeneration initiative FMCL recently completed the stone repair subcontract package at ‘Tannahills Furniture Store’. Works included extensive replacement of sandstone sills and string courses etc along with repointing and other repair works to front and rear elevation; traditional three coat lime harl was applied to the brick gable with a limewash finish.
